Re: 8ba oil pump question
As long as you have some clearance, you should be fine. Heck, the crankshaft main thrust only needs .005 or so, so I can't see a lubricated oil pump needing more than that! Of course this is just...

Re: 1951 Ford F3 stroker questions
So it appears you have .080 over pistons - which I would think you could order an exact size to match from Ross, with whatever stroke you want. I would call Ross and ask for Ed in sales - he can...

Re: 8ba oil pump question
Also, the gasket is extremely thin - sometimes the "gasket kits" from folks like Speedway have a gasket that is way to thick. So check the new gasket before you use it. Sometimes I mic the...

Re: 8ba oil pump question
I put mine on a surface grinder and take as little off the bottom as possible. Since most don't have a surface grinder, I'd just take the plate down and polish it a bit on a piece of flat stock with...

Re: Still sober
Great job Craig - glad you've stayed sober and are here to talk about it!
Too many just can't beat the beast and destroy their lives (and the lives of others) as a result. Way to go!

Re: New Eddie Myers’s heads question
Yeah, from the picks, looks like the piston is above the deck to me? I wonder how tall the dome is - should be about .187 above the deck. I'd also measure the heads - they should have the same...

Re: New Eddie Myers’s heads question
Hmmmm . . . I would next accurately measure the crankshaft stroke.
Something seems weird in that you're running a very "normal" setup --> with a 4.00" Merc crank. I would also measure exactly...

Re: Cleaning out my cams
My first "hotrod" flathead was 284 cubic inches and had a Weber F6 cam in it. The cam sounded good, but I wasn't terribly happy with it (just ran out of power too soon). I then swapped over to a...

Re: New Eddie Myers’s heads question
Yes - that is the whole reason I mock-up a block with the crankshaft a rod and a piston pin at TDC - to figure out exactly what the compression height needs to be - then order my pistons from Ross to...

Re: New Eddie Myers’s heads question
Squish: For a street engine you'll want .040 to .045 squish (with head-gasket one).
Are you sure you have the right pistons for the crankshaft compression height?
How about posting a picture...

Re: Potvin cams
That cam does not look like a 32 cam - appears to be cast. Though what is weird is that the whole back of it is solid . . . so I have no real clue!
Heck, I would not want it anyway - why go...

Re: Potvin cams
The original Potvin 425 Eliminator cams were usually done on billet steel 32 cores - with the bearing journals done to .010 undersize. The undersize journals were usually done because in 32 there...

Re: Columbia Two-Power Range decal
Heck, I'd probably put it in the lower passenger's side of the windshield - in the corner. Who knows if a dealer would have put the sticker on at all . . . let alone where they might have put it. ...
