If you ever want to test the moisture theory take a propane torch and heat a cool piece of metal. Water droplets will form.

So Pete, is there anything wrong with using mushroom valve stems and split guides? I have some new old stock stuff and thought about putting one together using those. This of course would be a stock...

Look on the left rear of the block, on the intake surface, there may be a date code stamped in it. Not all of them have it but that’s going to be the only way to get it close.

I posted a link above that I think is the same one your talking about. Using stock lifters though. I might try that on my next build if I can come up with a valve grinder.

Went through that hell at work today, tried to assemble a belt idler on a refrigeration unit with the SKF(NAPA) made in China bearings. Never could get it to run right. CRAP! Ended up getting some...
