Re: torquing 8ba heads with an oil filter

I think over the years a lot of builders have determined that lower headbolt/stud torque values work and there is less distortion to the thin flathead blocks upper surfaces.

Re: Stromberg eFire Dizzy

No ballast resistor? I would guess you need 3.0 ohm in that circuit, 1.5 ohm is normally for a 6v system. You can get 3.0 ohm coils or use a 1.5 ohm coil with a 1.5 ohm ballast resistor.

Re: What is it?

It is kinda funny, it says right on the can what it is and yet there is a debate.

Re: Igniton gureu's...next step/questions

Another question would be what style coil is being used? If it is a 6v "can" coil you need to by-pass the original ignition resistor under the dash. The resistor will drop the voltage to the coil...

Re: Ebay sales tax in place

Not sure about this part, it was a fairly common practice in Kansas to go into Missouri and purchase alcohol and tobacco products. It was my understanding that it was illegal to cross state lines...

Re: Igniton gureu's...next step/questions

The condenser is a ground path for the coil as are the points. The points are a switch that turn on and off the current flow while the condenser is a capacitor which charges up with the points open...

Re: Igniton gureu's...next step/questions

The condenser is grounded through the case/mounting bracket. The battery could be the issue. The starter pulls a lot of current and a dropped cell plus the large current drop might reduce the...

Re: spark knock under load

I think you want the vacuum brake hooked up. Bubba claims to see a difference in the stability on a scope. The vacuum brake was originally for help with ignition ping, it slows the rate of advance...

Re: fluctuating fuel gauge

Too bad you don't still have the original sender. They can sometimes be repaired. Much better unit.

Re: fluctuating fuel gauge

About the only replacement senders available are resistance type as opposed to original pulse-current type. 19Fordy posted some about this. It is somewhat hit and miss on getting the resistance units...

Re: fluctuating fuel gauge

Ok, I have a question. What would cleaning the tank out have to do with the fuel sending unit? Was it replaced at that time with a new unit? If so it is most likely a resistance unit now.

Re: Rhythmic smoke puffing out of oil input breather cap

Anthony, you may have missed something on the PCV valve discussion, it does a lot more than protect from a backfire. When you install the PCV system you are creating a large vacuum leak and this...

Re: Ebay sales tax in place

Don't think that is how it works, it is the buyers address (state) that is collecting the tax, not the sellers location. Ebay, etc, is just the go between. The seller that is collecting the tax is...

Re: Ebay sales tax in place

If you don't have a local sales tax, then you should not be charged one online, it is a state issue, not the sellers.

Re: 32 axle bent twist ?

Photo posting problems are almost always file size. Assuming a .jpg file, the size limit is just under 586 kb. You need to reduce the photo sizes, most camera photos are in the Mb range.

Re: 8BA compression issues

Then how did you determine the install height? You don't just stick the springs in there, you have to determine the spring height at the seat pressure you want and then shim to that install height on...

Re: Ebay sales tax in place

Not sure why this is being considered such a big deal. You have to pay the sales tax if you buy local as well. I don't like it, I don't like much of any tax in fact, but it is a state issue, not an...
