Re: '50 vs '51 TRUNK MATS

I've got a good original mat in the trunk of my '51 club coupe. That picture on the ad is pretty small, but I'll check mine out and see if it's close. IIRC, my mat covers a lot more than that little...

Re: stuck 8BA

Here's what I made, similar to what you are proposing. The black vinyl cap goes over the water pump inlet for in car testing. BTW, I found out the hard way that 1/4" aluminum flexes enough to make...

Re: Title Woe’s

That attitude will get you a long way if you have registration problems.

You really can't fight City Hall on stuff like this. You'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Re: Testing a 12V resistor coil.

Excellent post "rotorwrench". It makes it easy to understand. Using Ohm's Law (I=V/R), you can see that 12/3=4 amps and that 6/1.5= 4 amps as well. Points like to operate carrying current in the 4...

Re: 8BA What are these bolts for?

I don't think they are Ford bolts. I don't think Ford ever used Nylok nuts. Plus, the spacers seem to be an attempt at something out of the ordinary.

Re: Charlie N.Y. Band for life from Ford Barn

Just stay away from politics and religion and you'll be fine.

Re: Charlie N.Y. Band for life from Ford Barn

I saw it. It disappeared quickly. I do have to say that I was surprised and disappointed in it's content.

"Kube" is right; it's time to move on.

Re: V8oil pump

Generally, the 8BA pump is a better choice, even in an earlier engine. You will have to modify the oil pickup tube, but the helical gears and internal pressure relief system are superior to earlier...

Re: Charlie N.Y. Band for life from Ford Barn

As I stated above, "Bans" can be for various lengths of time. How do you know it's "for life"?

Re: Charlie N.Y. Band for life from Ford Barn

I know he is banned, but I do not know for how long. Usually, someone is "Banned" for a week for the first offense, a month for the second, before being banned for life. I don't remember any previous...

Re: Charlie N.Y. Band for life from Ford Barn

I totally agree with you, but you have to realize that any infusion of politics into a forum such as this is toxic if left unchecked and must be eliminated.

Re: Noisy sepeedometer - 1951 Ford

Thanks guys. I'll crawl up there (as best I can) and see if I can find the lube hole.

Thanks "Merc Cruzer" for the picture.

Noisy speedometer - 1951 Ford

Last fall, the first time I took my car out after the weather turned cold, the speedometer started making a noise and jumping around. I pulled the cable, cleaned and lubed it and put it back in,...

Re: 1940 Ford pickup exhaust manifold color

I used something on the exhaust manifolds on my Corvette 20 years ago, and it still looks good. I'll dig through my files and see if I can find it what it was.

It was featured prominently in the...

Re: 8BA spark plug wire looms??

The early 8BA's had simpler looms in which the wires all went through one big loop. I try to avoid those. Most of the "4-leaf clover" looms (as shown) have the rubberized coating damaged. What I do...

Re: 8BA cam position

I had a funny knock develop in the engine in my '51 after owning the car 29 years. Oil pressure was good, but nothing I did tracked it down. I swapped in a '51 Merc I had, which required that the oil...

Wait a minute! Isn't it an American tradition for an old guy to be driving down the road with one blinker going?

Being kind of a "Newbie" around here, I wasn't sure of who Ron was referring to, but I had a bad feeling. I did a little looking around, and my worst fears were confirmed. The first two Flathead...

Fill the valley with charcoal, fire it up and put a piece of sheet metal over it. Let it go until it's cool (which may take several days). It's a last ditch procedure that has worked for some in the...
