Be careful when doing some of these tests make sure you have the ignition off when tapping the starter and also the gear shift in neutral to many times these old girls will start when you didn’t...

Sometimes there is a locksmith in your hardware store but I would bet any good locksmith could do it you can order the key blanks on line

Just my opinion a friend of mine has a 40 cpe with 16 inch wheels painted color of the body and 3 stripes as was stated and radials drives like a dream also the best thing i ever did was put radials...

Had that same problem with my 50 cpe finally figured it out and it was the solenoid took it apart and had to file and align the points and replaced the leather washer works great now hope this helps

Those old rubber hoses don’t work with ethanol fuel either had that problem myself switched my hoses to fuel injection rubber lines and quit using the corn fed fuel

How old is the ignition system under heavy excel spark plugs are usually the first thing to try but don’t forget cap wires rotor points and condenser keep us informed

doesn’t matter if it’s cable or braided strap but get it big enough mine goes from the bell housing to the body not the frame body is mounted on rubber mounts

Every thing mentioned is very good info but what is the generator putting out for voltage at 1500 rpm you should be @ 7.5 volts with every thing turned off check your generator output also on my 50...

Just my opinion but didn’t care for that straight pipe sound it sounded like i had a exhaust leak Went with the 1 - 3/4 stock pipe with the cherry bomb mufflers they make long and short units i used...

It’s hard to gravity bleed these old systems because the master cyl. is mounted so low any car that has the master on the firewall gravity bleed pretty easy like Kube said power bleeders work the...

Just some more info on my 1950 v-8 cpe i’ve had for 23 years when i first got it always ran @ 1/2 way on gauge or a little higher with 160 stats some years down the road radiator started to leak...
