Re: 1937 Standard Tudor lighting system fuse

Yes, will be getting out my trusty Fluke Meter and test leads and go chasing the harness for ground/shorts outs. The wire harness is in pretty decent shape for its age. I have been going back and...

Re: 1937 Standard Tudor lighting system fuse

Thanks Marko39. Located and it is blown. For some reason i was thinking the fuse was near or at the bottom of the steering column.

1937 Standard Tudor lighting system fuse

Hi folks, my 37 Ford's lighting system has gone dark. Can someone point me to the location of the fuse for the yellow/red circuit? No headlights, low/high beam, tailight, parlor lights, instruments,...

Re: 1932: Bixby Bridge, Big Sur, Ca

I drive down that way often. Same every weekend or holiday at Bixby Bridge. CHP cannot keep up with it and writing parking citations is futile as most are tourists in rental cars from other states or...

Re: Intermittent sticking valve

Today I added MMO to the gas tank, 5 ounces, then changed the oil with 5-20 Mobil 1 with about a quart of MMO. Fired it up and let it warm up then poured about 3 ounces of MMO slowly down the carb....

Thanks Jack, definitely worth a try before tearing into the valve train.

Re: Intermittent sticking valve

Thanks Gary,

This engine was machined and left unassembled by Don Canepa in Watsonville, Ca. years ago after he passed away. The guides (black) were from Mac's as I remember when I put it all...

Intermittent sticking valve

My 37 221 V8 has what I think is an intermittent sticking valve. It drops a cylinder about every 4 or 5 seconds at idle. The vacuum gauge is otherwise steady but drops on the same frequency....

Thanks to C and G Ford parts

I ordered a Ford Service Bulletins manual from C and G. UPS lost the shipment somehow. In the busy period leading up to and through the TROG at Pismo Beach and the event at Bakersfield, Joe took the...

Re: 37 Tudor stock mechanical brake pedal travel

I have a copy of the Motor Service Repair Manual Ford V-8 for 37-38 models that has instructions on brake service. Seems fairly complete and I have been referring to it. Still need to shorten the...

Re: 37 Tudor stock mechanical brake pedal travel

Thanks, I need to dig a little deeper. 37-38's have cables not rods.

37 Tudor stock mechanical brake pedal travel

Had a rear wheel locking up on braking making for some embarrassing stops. Got the stock mechanical brakes adjusted to take care of that. The brakes are new and were done by the previous owner. The...

Re: '37 Flathead rebuild questions

I would definitely get Ron's book for the build but especially for the information on setting up the floating rod bearings. They can be very difficult compared to more common insert bearings. Stay...

Re: How do I measure a small piston to head clearance

I would get some Playdough from the toy store and put a layer over the piston then install the head with a good gasket and slowly rotate the engine a few revolutions by hand, not with the starter. If...

Re: 37 Swing out windshield

I decided to try removing the seal with the windshield still mounted on the car. I would rather not remove it and risk getting it to fit correctly again. Sometimes it is better to leave it as it is...

Re: piston damage (new pictures)

I would run it as it is. If the clearance is tight enough to keep it quiet after getting the engine to operating temp, shouldn't be too bad.

Re: 37 Swing out windshield

For getting the rock hard seal out of the frame groove, etc. I used the knife shown below. I heated the end with a propane torch cherry red and used it carefully to cut through and scrape the seal a...

Re: 37 Swing out windshield

I used an Exacto knife, the small one, to begin to slice through the gasket going around the windshield. Painstakingly, without scratching the paint. This took much patience and time. The old gasket...

Re: Help locating a Bob Drake tilt out windshield seal

Drake's suggested calling Early Ford Parts in San Dimas, Ca. as they might have one on the shelf. Called them and they did. It's on the way.
