Re: Proposed New Fordbarn Forum: Non US Ford Based Flathead Era

Well I still think think Non NA Ford’s would be way more focussed. Being that Ford of Canada was founded in 1904 and the very minimal differences between the Canadian Fords and those across the...

Re: Proposed New Fordbarn Forum: Non US Ford Based Flathead Era

I believe the idea has merit and support it with one caveat... change the “US” to NA (North American). There are a few idiosyncratic characteristics on our Canadian built Fords so they are not 100%...

Re: SOS... 351 Water Pump Bolts Placement

I’ve used distilled water in my 50/50 mix for over twenty years. Up to that point I used tap water as our water up here is very soft!

Re: SOS... 351 Water Pump Bolts Placement

Sorry, I should be a wee bit more precise. I’m quite sure it’s leaking at the gasket not the actual cover. So I think I’ll just go for a gasket and the seal for the crank. I was hoping to get a...

Re: SOS... 351 Water Pump Bolts Placement

It was a few weeks ago but I think it was at idle. I think I should have tested around 1,000-1,500 RPM so I may test again whenever I get the timing cover leakage sorted.

When I do the timing...

Re: SOS... 351 Water Pump Bolts Placement

Oil pressure mechanical gauge gave me readings from around 38psi down to about 15-18 psi after the engine warmed up, if I recall correctly. Dash gauge shows very low to zip! For the price of a pump...

Re: SOS... 351 Water Pump Bolts Placement

@KULTULZ I’ve had to send my Bavarian car into the shop. They are currently performing a prostate exam on me so being on a pension having a mechanic work on my F250 may not be in the cards for...

Re: SOS... 351 Water Pump Bolts Placement

Thanks for the reply. I was going to carry coolant with me but it’s leaking too badly. Just had the engine running at I saw it wasn’t going to take “a little dab will do ya” so I’ll just wait...

Re: SOS... 351 Water Pump Bolts Placement

Well got the coolant pump back on A-OK! However....no one ever told me that the timing cover gasket tends to bugger up at the same time!

So I’m going to have to get a mechanic on this and he was...

Question SOS... 351 Water Pump Bolts Placement

Well I was getting onto the re and re of my water pump on my ‘87 F250 with its 351 and was placing the bolts carefully on a little table in the way they came out. However, something happened and...

Re: The Ford Motor Company in 1957

Yep Ford outsold that other car company in ‘57! My dad bought a ‘57 Meteor Rideau that year and it is my very first memory at age two in ‘58, which you are not supposed to have. Way better lines and...

Re: Another pan rail crack thread- Save it or junk it?

There’s a fellow on the HAMB that stated some guys add cement mix into the block to seal and strengthen pan rail cracks.

Re: Low Oil Pressure....351ci

Looks like I’m going to have to drop the pan and see what’s what. Pull pump and check, then perhaps replace if needed after checking pickup. I may have to replace main and con rod bearings... not...

Re: Low Oil Pressure....351ci

Well this is what has been done...

A. Replaced sender and no change.

B. Test with mechanical gauge and got 35psi on cold startup which after went to 30, 25, and eventually 5psi.

On...

Re: Low Oil Pressure....351ci

Finally I tested the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. At cold idle it was 35psi then dropped down to 30 then 25 and finally after warming up and choke kicked off it settled down at 5psi which I...

Re: Low Oil Pressure....351ci

Well this has taken a bit of time... a fellow club member is going to lend me a oil pressure tester and then I’ll report back “with the rest of the story...”.

If the main and con rod bearings are...

Re: Low Oil Pressure....351ci

Well I did purchase a sending unit from RockAuto and saved a bundle! However, it really didn’t change a thing so the cost really doesn't matter as it was inexpensive.

Now, I don’t really want to...

Re: Low Oil Pressure....351ci

Yes it is a Windsor engine. And yes the sending unit is right above the oil filter, more or less and it looks like 1/2 of a D cell. So the 20-50 oil may help? I’ll see if I can borrow a pressure...

Question Low Oil Pressure....351ci

I’m way more interested in my flatties, Y-block, and my 390 but I have a question about my ‘87 351. The gauge is showing low oil pressure... In searching for a solution the easy/quick ideas are...

Re: Is rusty t. Stat housing useable?

As said above but you may want to perform Reverse Electrolysis on it (google it) as well. For any pitting you may be concerned about a wee bit of JB Weld would be fine I’m sure.
