In your case I would suggest adding an oil pressure gauge, making sure you don't lose oil pressure (1-2 pounds hot).

What would a cloud of brown smoke be? Not in an A but a ford t-bird mid 60's. I was told it hasn't run so good in awhile, oh yes some tire smoke also, my guess a rust clogged exhaust, teenager's!!!
