Re: Vacuum Gauge (new)

At the risk of dragging this out farther but yes, Ryan did remove a post or two at the end.

Re: Engine RPMs

Ah, my bad. I misunderstood you. Low vacuum, high suction (high manifold pressure). High manifold pressure is not something I would normally measure or have a way to measure in my car. Maybe if I was...

Re: Engine RPMs

Not sure I agree with this statement, low manifold pressure would indicate lugging.

Re: Antifreeze yes or no?

I agree that people should try and search for answers to their question(s). Most topics have already been covered on Ford Barn over the years. Unfortunately I think Ford Barn has possibly the worst...

Re: Pulling the Cylinder Head

That is way I said "Move or remove". Since he indicated he is working alone it would be better IMO to move the radiator forward and remove the water pump so it is easier to handle. But hey, what do I...

Re: Pulling the Cylinder Head

Do you belong to a club and do they have tools to loan out? A head puller is a great asset when removing a head.

Yes you can remove the head while in the car. But you will have to move or remove a...

Re: grease gun universal joint lube

The grease fitting is on the transmission rear bearing retainer and pointed directly at the u-joint. The torque tube bell and clam shells are back farther. There is nothing in the way of the lube...

Re: grease gun universal joint lube

I think we all know where the pumped in grease goes. The question is not so much where the NEW grease goes but where the OLD grease goes that the NEW grease replaces. I don't see it coming out...

Re: Valve clearance

First off let us start off by using the correct vernacular just so we are all clear. By 8000 to you mean .008" or .080"? 1300?

.008" is a little on the tight side while .080", as nkaminar...

Re: Water leak.

Well we ran the engine thru a couple of more heat cycles and re-torqued the head while it was hot. Yes I know, should torque when cold. But the seeping out the stud has stopped, for now.

We will...

Re: Water leak.

Yes, head was retorqued to 55 psi. Best gasket Graphtite gasket was used. I tried to pull the stud with no success. It has me baffled. I will update when we get the head off if we can determine the...

Water leak.

A couple of weeks ago we replaced a head gasket on my friends Model A. He just noticed water seeping out of the #3 stud (by the tightening sequence in the Red Book) or the 2nd one back on the drivers...

Re: Inner tube advice needed

I gotta ask, did you check the inside of the tire? Maybe something is poking your tube.

Re: Help diagnosing engine knock

Why is that? Is that true with all head gasket brands? In my examination all you gain by using a "B" gasket is two steam holes in the gasket that are not in the block or the head.

Re: Output Shaft Play

No, not normal. Start simple. Are you sure the bolt that holds the u-joint on is tight.

Re: Clutch Disc Exploded!

I'm wondering is it possible that the disk was install backwards and the springs were hitting the flywheel mounting bolts? Just a thought.

Mr. Moose, what book said .015-.020? I always heard .018-.022. Regardless, it should have started.
