Re: GAV Adjustment While Driving?

Now there is a true statement if I ever heard one!! Set the GAV where your engine runs best. Never mind what everyone else sez.

Re: What happened ???

I would venture to say the Ol' Girl didn't have much interest in going 50 mph and let you know! That and what 1930artdeco said.

Re: Squeaking near front crank pulley

Good point but the OP stated the squeak went away when he pushed in the clutch.

Re: Muffler Shield Device

I just installed an Aries Muller and have been thinking about installing a heat shield but don't feel I need it. I have Dynamat and Jute mating under my carpet.

I find it interesting that with the...

Do you have the front engine mount bushing in place? You don't mention it....

Re: gasket sealent

How much crud inis in your gas tank? Rust and such will scratch the valve and make it hard to turn.

Selling your car is a little extreme if you enjoy your Model A at all. How about installing a...

Re: Removing fuse holder

Just FYI, I use a circuit breaker in my fuse holder. Resets itself when electrical problem is corrected.

The issue with the holder is that too long of a screw was provided with the holder. I...

Re: Rear Brakes

No reason at all. Some of the vendors sell a loaded rebuilt backing plate. Randy Gross just sent a friend 4 loaded backing plates with cast iron drums all ready to go.

Re: A few timing gear questions

The drawing in post #13 is the drawing you are referring to. I agree it is not the best but in no way it is one tooth off. It does show that the keyway should be to the left of the timing mark, not...

Re: Wrong Gear Oil?

Probably leaking from the reverse idler and cluster gear shafts. The vendors have a kit that stops that annoying leak....

Re: Pressurized Radiator

Interesting thread but I think you need to address the reason your Model A "belches water all over the place". It shouldn't be doing that and I doubt a pressurized radiator will cure your problem.

Re: Sedan window trim plates

Mr. Moose, Could you post a picture. Maybe that would help? I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to and perhaps others are not either.

Re: Voltage/Amperage question?

Jayvee, I think you had it right. You 'flashed' the alternator. When you REV the engine, you 'excite' the alternator. Two different things.

Re: Engine runs on

I have only seen that happen on "newer" cars and Hot Rods that have an indicator (idiot) light. Most of the time it is the fault of the way the car was wired, not the alternator. Still not fun, cure...

Re: Gas bowl Q

FWIW, The gasket is the same size as the one used for '28-29 gas and radiator caps.

Re: A few timing gear questions

I think the keyway should be to the left (in your picture) of the cam gear mark.

Re: Vacuum Gauge (new)

I believe I suggested a possible reason in a previous post. Wouldn't be the first time a member quit because of it.
