Re: Front Shock Removal
So, jack stands if you want more working room, but if you can reach in there with the car on all 4 tires, you can take them off like that as well.

Re: Looking for a machine shop
I had the same experience as Bruce two years ago in the Chicago area. The flathead machinist I was using could not guarantee the repair would hold up. I ended up finding a better block.

Re: Fender stuff - '35 pickup
I can’t really tell from the picture, but are you looking for “fender welting?” Like Bill said, it’s for sale at many places.

Re: 40 Ford Sedan Shocks
Kube, how do you apply the STP oil? Do you use the zerk or apply it to the outsides of the springs and let it seep in?

Re: Muffler help
I’m glad to hear you are giving Waldrons a chance to remedy the problem and troubleshoot with you. My experience with them was all good for a stainless system on my 41 pickup. No fitment issues, I...

Re: "Custom" Dual exhaust/Iron Trap Garage
That is a nice car. Must’ve been an interesting guy. He did all that stuff without damaging the car. The mechanic Steve put it well, “He did all the wrong things, the right way.”

Re: 1940 Fords paint
I’ve had some success with old single stage paint by rubbing in Meguiars #7. It doesn’t take any paint off, and restores oils back into the oxidized paint. This guy doesn’t recommend clay bar, just...

Re: 1940 Ford Rear Fender Brace
I’m also curious about this for when I put my pair of steel fenders on.
I’ve seen some that have a hole through the outside of the fender. Did some attach that way at the corner of the bottom and...

Re: 1937 Halogen headlight conversion
My experience exactly, meric42.
I don’t trust LED bulbs to last or have consistent quality. Too many have failed me of home and antique auto use. I also prefer the color of halogens/light bulbs...

Area for seller feedback?
Is there an area here for feedback on sellers? I’ve seen this on other old car forums where you can post positive or negative experiences with sellers. Especially helpful for great sellers or to see...

Re: Best Quality 1940 Rear Hub?
Thanks Gary. I called earlier but your wife said you had just stepped out. I appreciate the info. I figured originals would be better anyway. Thankfully today I have found some leads on good original...

Re: Best Quality 1940 Rear Hub?
Thanks guys. I’ll talk to the Corn Husker.
Ok, I wondered about Speedway’s source. And I can’t imagine there is more than one USA producer too. People seem to speak well of Boling Bros.

Best Quality 1940 Rear Hub?
I’m trying to track down a good used rear hub, if they still exist. I assume like most things, the originals will be better than reproduction.
But if I have to go new, I see Speedway, Thompsons...

Re: First fire of Flathead - how’d i do?
Congrats! You didn’t video it? I was expecting to hear it! Yes, that’s too much coolant. Mine likes to sit about an inch above the top tray inside the radiator. It’ll find its happy place when your...

Re: Rewiring my 40 random questions
Same with me. It came down to having it 100% stock and not being able to drive with terrible quality available parts, or electronic ignition and flawless drivability. I like driving.

Re: Rewiring my 40 random questions
Gotcha. If you wire the ignition according to the Stromberg instructions, the rest of the diagram looks good to me.
Some people here have a personal grudge against every electronic ignition, but...
