Re: Checking radiator for overheating problem with 1956 Thunderbird

Your right about the problems with IR guns. This link pretty well explains them.
I was kind of wondering about the 48 degree drop. The normal radiator water temp drop is usually between 10-30 F. A...

Re: '56 Country Sedan Overheating

tsanborn,

This is a bit puzzling. You had an engine rebuilt that was not overheating, and added some modifications to reduce potential overheating, and now it overheats.
Dmsfrr’s suggestion of...

Re: '56 Country Sedan Overheating

[ in the high 70s to low 80s, the engine temperature climbs above the gauge range and will continue to peg on hot if I don't shut it down. ]

Has it gotten hot enough to blow out antifreeze? You...

Re: Four Post Lift Recommendations….

Same problem. Getting just too hard to get down and up from a creeper.
Just bought and installed an Advantage lift about three months ago. Quality is good. Welds seemed good, and paint is good. I...

Re: Heating up a block to get stuck dizzy out

Jim,

I haven't tried it in a car, but I built it as small as possible just so it would. I haven't had a chance try it on my 56, but hopefully will this week.
It definitely works great on engines...

Re: Can someone ID this ignition coil?

Re: eight thirty-seven 5/16ths

Highbeams,

You might want to check with Ace on the screws they ordered for you. I can't find any thread chart that lists a 37 TPI for a #8 screw, just 32 TPI and 36TPI. It could be a Ford...

Re: 292 Distributor stuck

The instructions for building the Y block distributor tool to remove uncooperative distributors are done.
It turned out to be a seven page Word document. I went a little heavy on the pictures and...

Re: 292 Distributor stuck

I'm not too keen about getting into the tool business, but I'll tell you what I will do. I can put together a set of drawings and instructions and send them to you if that will help you out. It's...

Re: 292 Distributor stuck

Reading back through this thread I noticed that apparently there was a tool available at one time to do the job.
I finally made one not too long ago when I had to pull four distributors out of some...

Re: Delay in throttle response when giving it more gas

Hello,
First post on the forum so I hope I did this right.
I have tried to post the pages from the 1956 Ford Service Manual on the operation of the Lodamatic system used on the four barrel carb as...
