Timing or ?
30 years ago my engine was rebuilt. It took until today to try and start it !
It appears the engine blows air through the carb. Inlet instead of sucking air.
What to make out of that ? Timing...

This sure helps ! Will use wheel bearing stiff grease then and proceed as you say. Maybe to be absolutely sure I’ll insert some cloth anyway.

Correct Champion gaskets
Trying to install new Champion X3 sparkplugs for the first time, I notice they come with v-shaped solid copper gaskets. How do you you install them ? V up or V down ?
I also have a set of Brattons...

Aligning hood
Still struggling with aligning the hood on a 1929 Tudor. Does anyone have the dimensions of the mounting holes to the top of the shell. I have the feeling my shell sits too high.

If the slack in the 7 tooth column is too much ... take a saw and cut the welding of the house. Then put the house into the wrench. Close it just enough to loose the slack. Then weld again.

Looking at your door Tom, I realise mine do not have the recess in the upper parts of the sides of the doors. That why the upper plates are too short. Do not know what kind of car donated the doors....
