Re: Replacing glass in Murray Town Sedan

JW,

You’re right, it is a straight window TS, and your point about the straight window not having the lip is just what I needed to hear. I had decided to clean up the one I took out of there and...

Replacing glass in Murray Town Sedan

A couple weeks ago I posted about replacing glass in my '30 Murray Town Sedan and got several good replies. I've now obtained the window glass, a channel kit, and new lower channel. I was getting...

Re: Setting glass

Just ordered a new Murray glass channel, bedding tape, and a channel kit as was suggested to replace everything in there. One thing that made it so hard to get out was an adhesive on the channels. Do...

Setting glass

I am replacing a broken drivers side window on my 1930 Town Sedan. I got the glass out in two intact pieces, which was not a trivial operation, and the lift bar at the bottom off. Using the two...

Re: How Were They Painted?

Not sure about the Model A, but Model T bodies were painted with a low pressure spray, really a low pressure drizzler, that looked like a small rake. The paint dripped off and was collected for...

Re: What is the hardest Model A accessory to find

My Roadster has a pair of Tiffany cowl lamps as pictured in the Accessories book, I've not seen another pair. Also have a lockable box on the running board that holds three service cans like a...

Re: Which Model A for a coast to coast trip?

We've used a Town Sedan with a good trunk on the back for our longer trips. I wouldn't use anything with side curtains. A group of Model T's have done the coast to coast thing twice now in 10 years....

Re: 600w leaking out of steering box

I use cornhead grease in all of mine. Its not really a grease per se, more of a super 600W. I get it at John Deere dealers.

Re: What would Henry think ??

I just don't see how they can call it a Model A, but then I've never understood that. There's got to be less than a couple percent Model A in it, and its probably registered as a 1930 Model A.

Re: wedding decoaration ideas

We've had our A in several weddings at this point. Also proms and the like. We made up a period looking "Just Married" sign we attach to the rear, put white bows on the radiator and each door handle....

Re: Enclosed car trailer

We have a 24' with a V-nose and an extra foot in height. Tows beautifully behind our F250. I like having the extra length because we also tow our '42 Ford Tudor, and we got the extra height to tow...

Re: Biggest scare in a Model A

Never really had a moment in one of the Model A's or T's, but a couple months ago in my '42 Jeep I was coming home from an event. We had left a little early because we could see rain clouds to the...

Re: rumble seat ins & outs

On exit, you almost have to guide their feet to the step plates and the stretch to the bumper mount is a duzzy. Other exit procedure if they're up to it - jump down.

Re: What have you found working on your A?

I pulled quite a bit of gravel out of the frame of my '42 Ford Sedan when I was first going through it, so the car must have spent some time on gravel roads. Based on a number of things, we believe...

Re: update on getting dizzy after being under the A.

Had that same problem for the past several years since I passed the 65 mark. Staying hydrated is the key, but is a very good idea anyway. Last year I had the pneumonia vaccine, which is a good idea,...

Re: Draglink has a slight kink in it.

I have a '29 Roadster that had the kink in the drag link when we bought it 28 years ago. Never effected the steering and seemed intentional. No marks in the paint, or link itself. The kink makes the...

Katy from Alberta - just FYI, that's a tire gauge for WWII Jeep.

Re: Don't discount the coil as being bad . . .

Not on a Model A, but I did a major tune-up on my '42 Jeep - plugs, points, wires, distributor cap, rotor, etc. - everything except the coil. So I'm at an event and the thing won't run right, get it...

Re: 1929 Ford Station Wagon in need of seats

The two center seats and back bench seat on the Station Wagons were all removable. There should be sets of fittings, sockets really, on the floor that the hardware bits on the seats fit into. I had...

Pay attention to the little flashes...

The battery in my '29 Roadster was completely dead the other day. Hooked the charger up for a couple hours and could get it started, but the ammeter showed only a couple charging volts during a...

Re: Kudos to snyders

Always had very good service from Snyder's, and the rest of the larger T & A vendors.

FedEx lost an order from Snyder's last fall and claimed it had been delivered. Snyder's sent a replacement...

Re: Running Board Picnic Table Accessory

We have two purchased years ago for no where near that price. Ones a low, almost coffee table height, the other more dinner table height. Both date to the 30's.

Re: Varco Model A luggage rack on Ebay

I have an original rack on my 29 Roadster which folds in two and is deeper than the slatted racks. The trunk that fits it is a good couple inches deeper than the narrower one I have on my 30 Town...

Re: Happy 90 years old 6/18/29 firewall cars.

Happy birthday!!

Our Roadster has a firewall date of 4/20/29, we had cake and beer to celebrate its 90th. Engine and frame numbers match and are in the range for the April date.

Re: Stuck wrench

Outcome - time and distance always helps with the infernalness of inanimate objects. Went out this morning with a pair of narrow jaw vicegrips with tapering jaws. Got the narrowest part of the jaw on...
