I'm also pretty sure those are not Ford top irons. On Model T and model A the bows were pretty much straight and went across to the sockets that were curved . They are definitely NOT for 28 to 30...

Vinegar even in mild form is acetic acid, given time it will eat anything aluminum, especially if there are copper gaskets in at the same time.

Take off what will unbolt, then chuck the whole block assembly into a large drum of water,( YES H2O,) leave it to soak for anything from 3 weeks to 3 months and every so often try tapping the pistons...

Both the 35 and 36 should have the top rest brackets. The body is fitted with 2 brackets in each rear corner and the U shaped rests screw into the corner brackets. When the car is driven with the top...

Agree with David, the floor pan on a 36 roadster is very different in shape. Even the floorpan on a 35/6 phaeton is not the same as a roadster.

Check to see that you HAVE a 35/6 switch body. Someone may have fitted a switch body from a later vehicle.
My 1935 had been changed to I think a 39 switch body and loom, it only went to 2 positions...

I have the same problem with my phaeton. I have Dunlop 600x16 tires and can get the outer ring onto the wheel but not the disc cover.
Thanks for the heads up that the ring part could be too narrow,...

I owned some Auburn's with Columbia rear ends, their books recommended W160 gear oil, which a local speciality oil company made up for me, it was a very thick oil.
