ccpu visor

Would any one have the location dimensions of the two holes or tags on the ccpu sunvisor where the little strap goes on that holds the fabric cover,
I have a repo sunvisor without any holes or tag.
My pickup is coming along nicely,I have all the panels prepped and ready for paint.
Hope to have it done in another couple of weeks.
Thanks Lawrie

I'm trying to remember how this goes. Isn't there supposed to be some sort of metal "keeper" on the inside to keep the fabric taut in the corner? It's sort of like the metal strip seen on paper notebook covers IIRC.

The Lebaron Bonney covers are a sort of "pocket" affair made to simulate the sewn through look of the originals. Not at all original (despite their hubris) but perhaps acceptable to some?

The first cover I made I did the sewing through myself, on a vintage treadle sewing machine. I only broke one needle as it hit the frame I could't see. But the detailing of the LB was much better than I could do with "piping" and such on the finished edges.

Thanks Dudley, I should be able to work them out from your pic,

Here's a photo of the inside part of an original visor with the tabs and metal retainer. This has an old LB cover on it.

Thanks Dan!
After seeing your photo...I have the inner piece! If you look at my photo, my stuff
is about 9' feet in the air, hanging off the shop wall...tuff too view.

Re: ccpu visor

The "ears" that appear bent over - are they part of the frame or another piece applied from the topside and going through the holes then bent over?

Unfortunately all I've ever seen is the exterior view like Dan's. My frame(s) have always been the repop.

Re: ccpu visor

The "ears" or "tabs" are created by stamping the metal side pieces so they protrude downward inside the frame. Then the covering, then the retaining strip.

I don't know how many times I'll be able to bend them, I've recovered the frame once so far. I may have to weld some new tabs in place the next time I re-cover it.

How did you find it, d.j?? Was it next to the rockin' horse? Should've put it down low, by the F.D.R. wheel chair. How much for the chair$$$ Bill W.

On the rear side (against the top of the cab) How is the fabric finished? (Folded over/glued/flush???)

Re: ccpu visor

I folded mine over and glued it,but ,later I had to put extra screws through the back edge and into the front wooden header to keep it tight.
