RE: Trailering..........

Guys - Just read the comments concerning the trailering of a "A" (below), and have to agree that a full-size TRUCK is best (I have a Ford F150 SuperCrew); that said, my question is concerning the comments reference "surge brakes." I have two open car-haulers, one 18' and one 20' - both with dual axles, one with electric and one with surge brakes - and I actually prefer the surge over the electric. The surge seems to "pull harder" when stopping (maybe my imagination). Can someone tell me WHY they disagree that electric brakes are better than surge brakes??https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif

Re: Trailering..........

When I towed (24' prowler/olds custom cruiser wagon) there was an adjustable rheostat (?) to control how much brake was applied, also a lever on the dash that could be used if it got to sway (also had a friction sway control installed).

Re: Trailering..........

Electric brakes throughout the rheostat can be heightened for the weight of the load. I like that.
