Horn Button Diameter 1 Attachment(s)
Hi guys, I did a search but did not find anything...
I purchased a new horn button from Mac's (I'm new I didn't know any better). It arrived yesterday and when I went to install it the diameter was much too small for my application. The truck is a 1929 and the horn button is suppose to be for a 1929. I need your help to determine exactly what I have and what I need. Perhaps my steering wheel is not from a 1929?? Perhaps Mac's sent me the wrong part?? Please take a look at the picture below and let me know your thoughts. Thank you in advance for your time. -Matt |
Re: Horn Button Diameter You have a 30-31 steering wheel.

Re: Horn Button Diameter Hi Matt, Some one has changed out the steering Column and you have a 30-31 Horn Button in your Photo. And probably a 2 Tooth steering box, which is better. The button Kit you need is the Black One. Be careful after you pull the rod out and try to remove the old button. I had one that was frozen in and broke the Escutcheon Plate off the Rod. And ended up buy a New Rod. But button and wire kit was $36 and the whole new assembly was $58 from Mikes a-fordable in Georgia.

Re: Horn Button Diameter I think you have a 30-31 steering wheel and the picture of the horn button is a 28-29 button

Re: Horn Button Diameter Thanks a lot guys. I'll order up a 1930 button. Is it possible the 1930 steering wheel made it on to a 1929 truck from the factory?

Re: Horn Button Diameter The 29 style trucks were built until around June of 30 & could have the 30 steering column. The early 30 trucks also used the 30-31 style gas cap rather than the threaded 29 style.
