Rated carrying capacity of 1933 pickup?

Hello,

Im in the process of registering a 1933 Ford 1/2 ton pick up in Australia, and need to know the actual rated load carrying capacity figure to complete the paperwork

is it actually 1/2 a US Ton? does this include passengers or just the tray capacity?

would be great if someone could give me an answer on this one!

Thankyou!

I'll keep an eye on this as Im about to go through the same thing in Western Australia. Cant you just ask the inspectors- DPI? just say its a half ton tray. Did you have it weighed at a weighbridge for correct weight?

Don't know how Australia defines these terms but the U.S. defines them as:

Cargo weight is any weight added to the curb weight, (empty truck) including cargo placed in the cab or bed, optional equipment and trailer tongue weight if you’re towing. It does not include passengers. For a 1/2 ton truck that is 1,000 lbs (453 kg).

Gross vehicle weight = Curb weight + cargo weight + passengers

The vehicle weight on the weighbridge was 1220 kg with a full 50lts of fuel.
It has a Columbia rear, which is probably 20kgs extra or so,
so say... 1150 kgs dry weight.

So Old Henry, that sounds like 453KG is the figure I need. Thanks!

I remember back in 1953 my Dad had a Model A pick up and it was rated as 1/4 truck on the lisc regst. card.
