Be prepared to pay a hefty price for a radio for the 48-50 series trucks. $400-500 for a working unit. You can get one from a 49 Mercury and strip the chrome off the face and repaint to match the speaker grille. They are identical other than the chrome face and side brackets. You can make the side brackets as I did and put the Merc radio in the dash. You'll have to use 41 Ford repo knobs and paint the inner one like the bezel. THe Merc radios are far less in price.
THere is also a dealer option bracket kit out there that takes a 49-50 Ford car radio and mounts it under the edge of the dash. THere's also a dealer kit to mount the 48 Ford car radio, though harder to find. It goes under the dash also. THere wasn't alot of trucks with radios back then, so they're tough to find. Thus the premium price. Go with the Merc radio option.

Here's the bracket drawing so you can make them. I got this off of ford-trucks.com

I have an original ford kit to install a 48 car radio in a pickup. I think it installs in the dash like the pickup radio, I will open the old box and take a look. I bought the kit years ago because it was a ford kit and stillin the box with instructions.

I've got the bracket that mounts a 49-50 car radio into the factory hole in the dash. Also a working 49-50 car radio to go with it.
