rearseat backrest 29 tudor

how does the backrest attach to the body on a 29 tudor. there are no slots like on the 30 and the clips are attached to the wood frame around the window

You may want to post some pictures of what your dealing with. I just finished the interior of my 29 Tudor and there are 2 tabs on the back of the seat that slide into slots. Two metal tabs on the bottom which need to be lined up and/or drilled then secured with a nut and bolt.

Here's my 2-23-29 Tudor. Notice that my car is in the transition period and has both the slots and the brackets. My seat back top hooks over the two brackets.

That's interesting, Tom. My 3-6-29 had the brackets and may have had the slots, but I wasn't paying attention when it was apart. I assume the slots eventually replaced the brackets?

The rear backrest spring and frame assembly is different for your car. It only used a partial wood frame with no wood across the top. I'm thinking this pic was from Tom.

My 29 did not have those brackets on the wood. Just the slots in the steel. I never had the original backrest and got everything from Lebaron Bonney. It fell in quite nicely. The bottom two brackets took a fair amount of head scratching to line up and drill..

Here is the passenger side bracket for the bottom of the back rest. Notice that it still has the bolt and a piece of the wire frame that broke off the rear backrest spring. In the picture Marco posted above you can see the two wire loops at the bottom of the backrest used to secure the bottom.

The dark area is where I squirted some oil to start the bolts soaking for later removal.

My Seattle assembled Tudor, A Feb. 29 also, has the same set up as yours does Tom.

Weird, so ours is a Nov 29 Tudor. We have brackets mounted to the wood seat frame but no slots. Needless to say, lots of head scratching to figure it out but this site saved our bacon. Thx!
