Has Anyone Installed A Quietride Acoustishield Insulation Kit?
 

Has anyone installed one of Quietride Solution’s Acoustishield pre-cut noise and heat insulation kits in their Tudor. I have a ’30 Tudor.

I purchased the kit for the whole car and everything is going in nicely. The pre-cuts are great, very little trimming needed.

My question is the roof. My car is completely apart and I have installed all new wood for the top. Is the acoustishield insulation mat for the top suppose to be used in place of the cotton wadding, or do I just lay it on top of the chicken wire then put the cotton wadding on top of the insulation then the vinyl? Seems like if I did that it would be too thick.

The insulation mat supplied is one piece 40 inches wide by 71 inches long which would bring it right to the inside edges of all the wood supports around the top, but not up to the metal part of the roof which is where the wadding would go and be nailed . If I measure the opening where I believe the chicken wire and cotton wadding goes (I have not done this before but will be following the instructions and pictures I found on the Model A Ford Barnyard site) it is 42 inches wide by 73 inches long . Before I go back to Quietride Solutions I want to make sure of the process from someone who has already done it.

Most of those kits are made for streetrods that have a full metal top insert. I trimmed the one I did and just used the pieces on the inside of the side rain gutter areas for the original town sedan.

Thanks Barry. I called Quietride this afternoon and sent them pictures of my top which is just the wood, and a picture on the website that shows how to do a new top on a Tudor. I gave them the measurement of the piece they sent me and the measurements of the opening that needed to be covered. The pictures showed them that the insulation needs to go to the metal part of the top if it is suppose to replace the cotton wadding.

They were very helpful and were going to cut and send me another piece to my measurements. Instead I said that I will turn what I had sideways, cut it and just needed another small piece to completely cover the top area that way.

My problem is solved and I just wanted with this update to let everyone know that if you get the Quietride insulation kit and there is a problem that they bend over backwards to make the customer happy. Great company.
