Six volt trickle charger ?
 

Is there a such thing as a six volt trickle charger ? I know they make them for 12v but am not sure on the 6v. Or could you use a 12 trickle charger on a 6v system ? I believe they only put out 2 amps while charging. Would this wreck a six v battery ? Id like to get one if there is such a thing.

I have one that you can select 12 or 6 volt. Did you do an internet search on them?

I just did a search on ebay and see that they do make a few different models.. So I guess I asked to soon and should have looked around first.:o

I found mine on Amazon that was both 6&12 volt.I think it was about $35.I bought 4 of them and they work great.If I remember they were made by Scemlacker or some name like that.Phil

LOL, no problem. I just could not think of the name brand I have with out going out to look at it. Good question.

I saw a black & decker 6v battery tender on ebay for like 24 bucks. I think I might check out wallyworld first. I tried to fire up the ol girl yesterday and she didn't want to start for me due to the battery being to low. It was like 56 here in NE Michigan yesterday and I would have like to take her out for a drive.

Just checked them out on wallyworld.com and they have a 6 volt trickle charger there for 20 buck. I think Ill run over and pick one up. Well maybe Ill drive my jeep instead.

Do not use a trickle charger. Use a float charger.

I have been using for 10 years a Battery Tender 6V only. I have been very happy with battery life.

If you have any ac-dc wall warts laying around from rechargeable toys, phones, answering machines, etc, they can usually be safely used as trickle chargers since most are current-limited to less than an amp irrespective of their open circuit voltage rating.

google in batterybutler.com & you will find what you need at a very good price. I have two 6 volt & my son has 12 volt we are both pleased with results.

You don't want a trickle charger, this charges all the time and boils the battery content. An automatic charger charges the battery to 7.3 and cuts off and restarts when the battery go's down to 6.3. The 12 volt type cuts off at 14.3 and comes back on at 13.3. These chargers may not come on for a week or two. I have had trickle chargers on batteries controled by timers that came on 15 to 20 minutes a day for 8 months and the water was boiled out. Automatic chargers on for a year or more with no lose of water. I have had problems with Optima batteries leaving an automatic charger on all the time. G.M.

As said before, Walmart has a economical 6-12 volt charger-tender. Yes it's Chinese but if you can't beat 'em might as well use 'em.

I use the Schumacher charger/maintainer from WalMart. Costs about $22 if I remember right. They automatically select the right voltage ( 6V or 12V). I have 3 of them and they work great for me.

SHU47 Thats the same one I was looking at. Do you leave it on for long periods of time ? And have you ever had any problems with it boiling the battery ?
If not that may be the rought I take.

Six volt trickle charger at Ace Hardware for $35 plus a plug-in adapter! Or any bike shop.
