19 inch tubes on 21 inch wheel?

Just a quick question (not sure if i asked this before) has anyone experienced problems using 19 inch tire tubes inside 21 inch wheels?

Not ideal, but might do in a pinch.

What kind of driving do you do: slow and local, or sustained higher-speeds ?

I wouldn't recommend it. MUCH more difficult to mount the tire and the probability of pinching the tube is high.

Back in the mid 80s I had a lot of split tube flats on a 2 week long tour. I solved the problem by going to a motorcycle store and buying some 19" tubes. They worked fine.

"Back in the day" (mid '50s) I used an 18" tube in a 600x20 tire on my AA to get me home (about 400 miles).

i was given them so i put them on. It was very hard to mount the tires without pinching them, took all day. Mostly low speed driving but i did get it up to 45 once for around 30 seconds (yes that is slow for a model A but this one weights too much)
