Rainmaker Remedy battery hold down
 

Original style and repop style hold downs do not fit modern batteries. On the last 5 or 6 battery swaps I made a quickie hold down from a piece of old brake rod and 2 brake rollers. See the picture. the Z shape can be formed to suit the fill cap locations of 6 or 12 volt batteries. Note the repop frame has been notched to miss the terminals.

I had a repro hold down on my roadster, and it was junk. It was cheap thin metal, and as the bolts are opposite the terminals, the thing warped up and the metal of the hold down shorted out the negative cable end, making sparks, and fire. I threw it in the bushes and installed a rubber bungie and have had no further trouble.
