present one is no good and probably not resurrectable.

I agree Bill Stipe is the way to go for new cams. I am running one in my sedan and another for the roadster pick up.

A third vote for Bill Stripe. Note that you can get his cams with oversize bearing journals. Ask your machinist to check yours before you order.

The above posts are correct, but a bit on the costly side. You can get good regrinds for much less money. Without a good core, there will be a core charge. [email protected]

Regrinds are available from the 'A' vendors which have been used for years and are reasonably priced.. I have no experience with Bill Stipe's camshafts,, but,, he does make a nice shock.. I think when I do an engine it'll have one of his cams though..

There was a guy at Carlisle ( I was told to ask for Gumpy ) that had 5 NOS for sale still in original boxes. I bought 2. One I needed and one was to be used as a spare. He sold them for 80 each and gave me 2 for $ 150

5th vote for Bills cams. He makes any grind you want. I got king of the hill a few times with one of his cams.

The Brierly and Stipe cams seem to be the best around; one will go into my next engine. However, be VERY cautious if you decide to buy a cheap regrind from the supply houses. Our club bought a camshaft from a well known house a few years ago and put it in a project engine. After some miles the engine lost power and was disassembled to find the cam a disaster. The heels of the lobes had been turned to the diameter of the casting and when a dial indicator was run across the lobe noses, there was concavity of ~0.003" from front to back. The grinder obviously used a somewhat convex wheel that needed dressing and wear marks appeared at the "ends" of the lobes only. Because of the coating on the camshaft when purchased, these things went unnoticed until later. When a vendor puts his name on a product, there's a good chance it will be of high quality.
