Shop Envy

"You can tell a lot about a man by his work area".

Lately due to a full-time work schedule and personal illness I haven't had much time to work or play with my Tudor in the garage. Thus the place has become a mess and will require a full cleaning and reorganization before any further work is done to Old Betty.

Some of the posts of members cars in their shops have me embarrassed and ashamed that I don't have a cleaner or larger work space.

Resulting in Shop Envy!

So I swallow my pride to post this pic of my woeful conditions and ask others to post where they shelter their cars and their pride.

It's not the shop you work in, it's the work you accomplish. I have seen some amazing work from humble shops.

I don't have a dog in my work area. That puts you way ahead. Good to have one around to scratch behind the ears while you figure out what isn't quite going together right.

Probably, the most of us work in cramped quarters or outside, under the "shadetree".

Another view of my shop. I had the bullet holes welded and the body work done on the roadster body shell here. The first coats of lacquer are curing. I did the running gear next.. http://www.bluemelon.com/photo/51244...rformance=true

Re: Shop Envy

Lance , It looks like you have plenty of space there!!!

Maybe with some shelves you could organise it better .

Watch out though " My wife say's that the Junk grows to the size of the Shed, Barn or Garage no matter how big it is !!!"

In 26 years I haven't been able to prove her wrong either.

Be thankful for what you got! I rebuilt several old cars outside on a gravel and mud driveway in freezing weather and/or blistering hot heat when I was younger because that was only place I had to work. Bought my house for the full basement and cement floor and was in "heaven".

Brown means as much to me as Vermin, my Model A does!:D Well, pain pill has kicked in, gotta' go to the galley & cook. Have a good day, ALL.:D Bill W.

The other end of one of my storage buildings. I built these buildings after retirement, before that it was all outside and most mechanic work was done under a shade tree. http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...rld/Jam818.jpg

Here is my model A dog, I'm trying to get her out of the dust. She is a low rider and the floor is covered in dust.. http://www.bluemelon.com/photo/51243...28-T600450.jpg

I certainly appreciate what I have and know that if I had more space it would only result in more clutter.
Storing the chassis below the body when I'm not working on it is a must for added space and to keep it out of the weather. Grinded it clean and ready for paint just before getting sick (not serious though) The current project schedule is for me to get the chassis finished before the engine comes back in late Nov. Belief being that the safest place to store it is where it was built to be. And yes a dog is a mans best friend, that is until she tears off chasing the occasional walkers in the neighborhood. Otherwise she's a good dog and can't wait to ride around in her Model A.

I love seeing shops and garages. Here is my latest shop. Obviously not done and not filled yet :)

Large carriage door is done

The shop I have now is not small 52 x 40, but the new one is much bigger :)

Pete that is an awsome new shop, but I've never seen a Pontiac Pony....

Re: Shop Envy

I specialize in Mustangs, but I'm open to other vehicles if the mood so hits me ;) All I have to say it no. But, I've been doing a run of Firebirds lately. The older I get the more I'm interested in trying something I haven't done before. Keeps me interested.
I am so looking forward to the new shop, but I will not be moving in until next year.
