Re: Hershey for th fist time 47, The Hershey meet is from Wednesday, Oct 10 thru Saturday, the 13th. You should plan on being there Wednesday thru Friday for prime flea market hunt. Show day is Saturday.
|
Re: Hershey for th fist time Vendor set up starts Tuesday morning and the public is welcome to go into the flea market fields and start looking for parts. Some of the best deals on hard to find parts may actually go down before Wednesday morning.

Re: Hershey for th fist time Hershey is the Mecca of all car shows. Wear good walking shoes. It is more candy than you can eat. The Corral is a must see too. There are no words to describe the entire show. Saturday is show day and they must drive into the park under their own power. And all you pay for is parking, which is in big fields, food and drink.
There is so much, you are anxious to get in the car and sit down at the end of each day... Of course it usually rains... |
Re: Hershey for th fist time I forgot to mention this.. One year I heard this announcement on the loudspeaker. "There is a hot rod sitting in Space?? Move it or it will be towed!" They are serious.
|
Re: Hershey for th fist time Looking like we will head there wed then.
|
Re: Hershey for th fist time Nothing like it - the smell of rust & chocolate in the air. LOTS of walking! Try not to mention "hot Rods", "custom" or.....well, you get the picture, I'm sure. Be prepared to be overwhelmed by the sheer size of it - a car nut's Disneyland!
Nothing like the first time - have a ball! |
Re: Hershey for th fist time Bring clothing suitable for a wide range of temperatures ranging from the 40s to 80s, hats, rain gear, and sun block. Also consider bringing a two-wheel shopping cart as even a few parts start to get heavy quicker than you might imagine. If you walk down the center of each aisle of the flea market looking at both sides of the aisle as you go, you will walk approximately 13 miles. And, of course, bring cash as nearly all sales are transacted in that form.
|
Re: Hershey for th fist time This will without a doubt be the finest experience you will ever have with your clothes on ! We used to go every year for at least 11 years straight. I'll never forget the first time we turned the corner and I saw what had to be the largest gathering of motor homes and campers in one place in the world. Tis a beautiful thing to partake in and like folks say, be prepared to walk till you drop. I believe everthing is on pavement now but we wallowed in mud some years and had to be towed out with farm tractors. Have a wonderful time and wish I were going with ya'll, Bob :D

Re: Hershey for th fist time Sounds like a great time. Especially now that we have a 41 pu to finish and some reare pieces sound like they might be there. Maybe I wll find another truck for myself! lol perhaps a 38

Re: Hershey for th fist time Bring a lot of cash. You can spend it there. Have fun:D

Re: Hershey for th fist time 47,
Approx 10000 vendors. The car corral is setup on a winding road around the Giant center. The road is about a mile long and corral cars are backed up to the curb on each side. Over flow corral cars are parked in the Giant Center parking lot. Please stop by at RCB 47 and 48....right next to the old stadium...that's the RED FIELD. We can discuss '41 pickups....I'll bring photos of mine. Charlie ny |
Re: Hershey for th fist time Awesome looking forward to meeting new people and gathering a wealth of new information from everyone. Being a bit younger than most of the other fellow enthusiasts i have alot to learn and parts to buy

Re: Hershey for th fist time Been going since '73. Never missed a yr. Some years I went for 1 day with $50.00 in my pocket. As Dave said plan for every type of weather including snow flurries. Depending on the weather during the week, Saturday can be real good or a ghost town by noon. Hotel rooms are a hit or miss deal. Most are sold out in 3 night blocks months before. By Saturday my toes look like baloons from the blisters and I can't drive home. When I croak I want my kids to spread some of my ashes @ Hershey. That way I'll never miss Hershey and I won't get blisters on my feet.

Re: Hershey for th fist time Phil,
You're still a novice. This will be my 49th. Dave |
Re: Hershey for th fist time I'm just a novice, only been going for about 41 years. I really don't need anything special this year, but I plan to go just for the sights. Maybe I'll see something that I think I need and will bring it home to put with all the other spares that I have. My bucket list is to go for 3 or 4 days and cover the whole thing if only in a wheelchair.

Re: Hershey for th fist time I always plan on staying as long as my feet and money hold out.
