51-53 Autotransmission rebuild?
 

Even in the Portland OR area, I can't find a shop that can remember how to rebuild a '53 automatic! Any suggestions for a local solution? The reverse band has no material left and the drum is scored. Thanks Newc

Talk to Leo at Master Transmission on Lombard St. in St. Johns. If he is not available, look elsewhere.

Might check with Gene Benson at Flat-O-Products in Salem. He does the C-4 to a flathead adaption and has been in the transmission business for a long time. He may be able to do it or know someone who can. You might also check with Dale Matthews at Memory Lane Motors on Holgate Ave. Dale sells a lot of early Ford V-8's and may have someone he uses to make repairs on them.

Canby transmission on 99 in Canby,OR did exceloent work on my 51 Mercamatic.
