Too nice for RatRod

I'm usually not one to judge, but I was at a Show & Shine lately and there was this RatRod that caught my eye. It looks to me a '30 Murray Fordor with good paint and original looking interior. It looked to me that someone either had restored the original car at some point or it was an awesome barnfind. Definately in my opinion, too nice to be made into a RatRod and I like the RatRod look. I took a couple pictures. Sorry no interior shots.

I'd say that is more street rod style or something. Rat Rod seems to be "what crazy, ugly, rusted piece of metal can I weld to my falling-apart-rust-bucket-randomly-chosen-body-pieces.

Yep, that is not a rat rod, I'd call that more of a traditional hot rod.

This (below) is a rat rod, and this is actually a clean looking one, normally they are more rusty.

Now that you can see what a "Rat Rod" looks like thanks to 29Model A, was there a point you were trying to make with your post? Bob

Yes, he suggested that the car appears to have been a very nicely restored one that someone changed to a rod. I agree that it should have been left alone and not rodded.

Sure looks funny with a visor!

Thanks Tom. That is what I was trying to say. The body or the interior did not look like they were tampered with at all. Just dropped onto a different chassis. Even the gastank was being used. Point being, the body was not a rusty hulk and in my opinion should have been left with the original A chassis.

That body could be picked up and put back on an original chassis and no one will ever know the difference.

I am of the opinion that a person is free to do whatever he or she wants to do with their car.

At least, they didn't chop the top. This one could be restored, at some point.
I have a friend that chopped 6" out of a never rusted, never dented 1929 tudor.

Take a closer look at the body. It appears to be a 31 S/W body with a flat firewall and a sun visor added. Jim

This is not the first restored "A" that the "rodders" have bought to "customize". It is cheaper, than to start from scratch. It has become a trend.

At least they are using it. Can't tell how many good A,s have been taken apart to restore. Then nothing is ever done with them when they find out how hard it is. I bought a few in the past.

Glad to see that it at least has a Ford engine in it. IMHO, I hate seeing a Chevy engine in an old Ford.

And it is a nicely done hot rod.
