1934 Ash Tray Radio Clarification please: I've seen photos of several radios speaker boxes, both ash tray and glove box types. On some I've seen what looks like an exterior switch on the upper left side of the speaker box. On others, there has been no switch at all. Can any one tell me if the switch I'm seeing is on both ash tray and glove box radios or just glove box types?
What was the function of the switch? Thank you |
Re: 1934 Ash Tray Radio The black-knobbed switch on the upper corner of the box is on '35-'36 radio boxes, '34 boxes do not have that switch. I think it's a rotating volume switch and it's only on ash tray radio boxes.

Re: 1934 Ash Tray Radio Randy,
The 33-34 Early Ford V8 Club's book shows the switch on 33 glove box radios but does not have a clear photo of the ash tray radio box that indicates whether the ash tray radios had the switch or not. I'm, wondering if there may have been multiple radio box suppliers? Tom |
Re: 1934 Ash Tray Radio Maybe you're talking about the silver on-off switch that pulls out and pushes in? It is an on-off switch and is only on glove box radio boxes.
