Re: ford shop coat

That is what my service manager and shop foreman wore when I worked in the Ford garage in the 60's. I also have one, and have worn it to shows. The shop coat for the model A era was apparently brown, with red lettering.

Anyone know if they make replica Ford shopcoats - the brown toned ones with red lettering?

John

Re: ford shop coat

The company that used to make the replicas, no longer makes them last I knew.

If you're interested in a "T" era original, you might be try the following:

I had kept several from both Ford and Studebaker but when I returned home from a government paid vacation in '71 they somehow had disappeared..

Very interesting. I would say he is very "proud" of it, since he didn't list the price.
I have some of those buttons.

You mean that the shop coats have shrunk just like the cabs have????

Re: ford shop coat

Interesting in that when I look at early Ford assembly line photos, it appears that workers wore pretty much what they wanted.

I can't make out any Ford logos on those that wore shop coats.

Hey! Watch it!! I've still got a "cute butt" but it's too HOT here for shop coats. I'm wearing my JOHNNY'S MUFFLER Tee shirt! (cool):D Bill W.

Here are front and back views of my shopcoat made by the Classic Shopcoat co. It's about 15 years old so i don't know if they still make them. It is very nice quality with brass script buttons ( they are covered with a flap to prevent scratching the car you are working on). I wore this to Renningers this spring and got hundreds of comments !:)

Re: ford shop coat

I wonder if FORD wanted too much to license the coats for reproduction. Might be the reason they were MD'd. If it was Vintage Shop Coats in Danville instead of Classic they stopped selling FORD Shop Coats on 4/30/2011
