Need Some Set Screws I need a few 3-48 set screws. I've checked a dozen local and online sources, they all want me to either buy 100 or them or they want me to pay a huge premium in shipping.
The length can be anything from 5/16 to 1/2" or more; I can always cut them down. The tip style doesn't matter. Two would get me by, four would be comfortable. I'll happily pay anything reasonable, plus postage; they can travel in an envelope for whatever a postage stamps costs now. If you can help, please drop me a PM. Thanks. |

Re: Need Some Set Screws Is 3-48 what you use for the Chevy distributor advance plate? Next question is, what vacuum can are you using? B1, B28.....? Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: Need Some Set Screws Yo Richard, if it is what I guess, do you think there would be interference with a button head? There are loads of them on epay. Smallest set screw I saw was #4-48, $6 plus s/h for 100.

Cheapest appears to be 5/8" long, pack of 10 for $5.70 or so... |
Re: Need Some Set Screws Quote:
All of their 3-48 set screws are special order items, and the problem is often minimum order quantity. For example, one 3-48 has a 70-piece minimum plus a special order shipping charge. I'll be talking with them again today about some possible alternatives. |

Re: Need Some Set Screws Find something else you need from McMaster and combine the order. I found they have one of the cheapest shipping charges of any supplier I have dealt with and the fastest shipping. G.M.

Re: Need Some Set Screws Richard, do you have any True Values near you? I find that they still stock some of those hard to find and neat to have items. It pisses me off how Lowes and Home Depot have run most of the mom and pop stores that carried these items out of business.
