First post This is my first post and I have a good number of questions. I am restoring a 51 Custom Ford that originally had a Ford-o-matic transmission and a V8 flathead. I found a fordomatic mated to a six cylinder in a 52 Ford. Will the Fordomatic fit my V8 Flathead?

Re: First post Don't know the answer to your question but welcome to the board.

Re: First post Welcome aboard... I would suggest you post the question with the header of 51-52 fordomatic question, or something descriptive like that. That way the people who know 51's will chime in. For example I am a 32 guy, I know I read all 32 posts but not all the new guy ones.

Re: First post I think you'll have to change bell housings at the least. Used to work on them in the early 60's, but can't quite remember. :-)

Re: First post I agree with Butch11443. That being said, welcome to the Fordbarn! Glad you're here. Its a good place to get questions answered and learn a lot about old Fords. Just remember, the only silly question is one you don't ask.

Re: First post welcome to the 'Barn....hopefully you will get the answers you need....and then you can enjoy your car.....Mike

Re: First post Also, this is an example of the sort of question that can be answered via the parts book, one of the best things you can buy. Look up trans case, look up bell housing, etc. and see immediately what is the same part and what is a different part.
