spare tire arm location on frame

does anyone have some measurements of where to drill the holes in the frame on the driver's side to mount the spare tire arm base? My frame doesn't have any holes. This is a 1930 Briggs Town Sedan.

Look for "dimples". There should be 4.

Do a search as Don Turley has posted detailed instructions several times.

There are no dimples detectable. Does Don have details regarding location on frame - or just the splash aprons?

Not knowing the history of your car, here is what happened...You may very well have a very early 1930 so the dimples do not show up BUT It was specified on the part releases that the holes for the wheel carrier on the frame side rails were to be drilled in place and that all frames were to be center punched to show the location of the holes.

This area should be between the front brake rod spring bracket and the three holes for the rear motor mount.

You just may have a late 1929 frame also.

I haven't taken the body off the frame to get to the serial no. but the speedometer is round and it has the 2-piece running board splash apron. Could it be just that the center punch marks were very light and just not detectable through the frame paint? The engine no. was re-stamped as 1304.

The engine no. was re-stamped as 1304. What's the rest of the number? If that's it, it would be a 1927 block!

It may be tough if it was brush painted over rust. However the rust would have to be quite significant to loose the marks so they certainly should be there. Get under there with a bright flashlight shining along or down the frame rail in that area and I'll bet you will spot them.
