Shock identity

I got a complete set of "original" shocks when I bought my PU. They are still in a generic box with the only identifying labels being the ones on the frame side of the shock that tells where to locate that particular shock. My question is, how can I tell if these are NOS, rebuilds or those newer ones that do not require shock oil? I am not concerned about NOS/original rebuilt so much as whether I have a set of the non-oil style. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

How about posting some pictures?

Pictures would be helpful to determine if you do if fact have original shocks. You might refer to the Judging Standards, lots of pictures showing writing, patent numbers, and other marks on original shocks; also shows various types of shock arms.

If you find they are original shocks that have been rebuilt you will probable have to contact the party you got the car from to see if he knows who rebuilt them.

Take a photo of the covers and post it...then maybe one of us can ID it from there.
