Why no 1927 A's?
 

If the first A's we're built in October of 27 and they hit the dealerships in December 27, why do we always say Model A's we're 28-31 vehicles? They went on sale in 27 and there would have been Model A's that wore 27 license plates. Why do we choose to ignore these cars?

First off, no one is ignoring these cars. There is a small, -but extremely strong fraternity that really promotes these vehicles. Its probably that you just have not been exposed to them. These vehicles are known as 'Early '28s', and not to be mistakenly called 'ARs'! Once you know the inner circles (Doc, Dean, Mike G., Deron, Ron, the late Steve C., etc) of who is involved, you find there are quite a few "earlybirds" still in existance.



As far as the 1927 Model-A, just like modern times, the vehicle was dated as with the model year. For example, last October (2011) I purchased my wife a new 2012 Edge. While it was wearing a 2011 license plate, on the title it was registered as a 2012.

It's APRIL of 2012 and they're selling 2013's.
Because they can. Just like if when your kid was very young and you taught them hot was cold and cold was hot, etc. Because you could.

The same applies to a VERY FEW made in1932...as 31 models...

Contact Doc Kalina.. He started the EA's Early Model A Fords and they have some great information on those cars, If anyone was at the San Diego meet you were able to see A495 Dean Drenzeks Phaeton engine number 495 and really something nice to study from the early ones.

Very true! U.S. car makers are just getting around to producing clean, effiecient diesels, finally. Volkswagen, Mercedes, etc. have been selling them for years. The TDI Volkswagen is an unbelievably nice, cheap car for the money, why haven't the others realized this until this year?

Well, they are not totally ignored as noted by Brent but they sure don't get much credit in model A discussions..Almost always, model A's are referred to as 28 to 31.
I had a 32 model A briefly when I was in school..It was ALL model A.
Nothing about it was 32...It was registered as a 32 Ford...As I recall a little over 400 of these were made from left over parts of the 31 production.
My wife gave up doing the era fashion thing with the club because they did not recognize 27 or 32 fashions as such...(political crap)
