Ebay has a wider audience and often the more competition the more a purchasher is willing to pay,,,you have to very careful with craigslist....thats why people advertise no emails,,call only

Re: Craigslist bargain!

I've sold on CL on two occasions. There's really no risk to buyer or seller if you advertise to local venues. I don't ship, nor do I buy unless I can put my hands on the
item. My phone rang off the hook in a matter of hours. One call came in within
45 minutes. Both items sold in less than 48 hours. Although I live in the Orlando, FL
area, I got calls from all over the state.

Never used Craigslist how hard is it to list stuff? eBay has been real good to me over the years, no complaints. Bob

Craigslist is easy to use and you get to keep ALL the money from the sale. Just follow the directions and check your email for the final step when listing on craigslsit. I've only listed for an old outboard I wanted, and had one good buy from it.

I have sold and bought a number of things on Craigs list, key is meet the person in a public location, or bring a friend if you go to another location.

CL is great...but you have to weed out the Scams...such as "do you still have the item?"

I agree with WICK the scammers that Craigslist brings out are terrible. I have used this site a number of times with great results both buying and selling and have not been burned yet. Tom

If you just use your brain craigslist is good. I can never find anything good for free, or nearly free. Just those damn free couches, they are everywhere!

Re: Craigslist bargain!

I use craigslist a lot for old junk around the yard.If I want real money for anything I still use the printed media.I get the biggest collection of idiots contacting me when I use craigslist.I have gone to saying calls only, and say I don't respond to emails. If I put anything on there worth real money I get 30-40 stupid responses. Some of the things I put on there for $7-$8000,Harley,backhoe,Studebaker,all bring offers of $1500.It's always,I'll be there in an hour with a truck and cash money.I NEVER go out to meet anybody with anything.I'm not wasting my time to load something up,go out, then have them offer $25.on something I wanted $100.for.I've been selling stuff all my life, and it wasn't until craigslist came along that people wanted me to meet them somewhere.Where I am it was just unheard of to ask someone to go through all that just so they could look and think about it.I had one fellow ask me to load up a backhoe, haul it 70 miles,so he didn't have to drive to look at it.4 MPG in my Brockway, nearly $140.in fuel, all so he didn't have to drive his Toyota down to look at it.He was insulted when I wouldn't do it.Things are selling again though,in the last month it is like the dam has broken.Reasonable people with real money have been calling left and right.I've sold more stuff in the last month than the last two years.

No emails No trouble. ;)

Re: Craigslist bargain!

I've run into mostly honest folks. If they're local chances are they won't try to get to you as you just may run into them again. Don't burn bridges buying or selling. I agree about not meeting a buyer at your house if you can help. Some wierdos out there and some are dangerous.

Re: Craigslist bargain!

it depends where you live
most people meet at a public place, but there have been instances where the seller has robbed them because they knew the buyer had the money cash on them

Re: Craigslist bargain!

we LOVE Craigs list. when I was preparing to move to NC, I posted my spare engine and all my heavy common parts and sold them all. my best Model A find lately was 6 very nice 19" wheels for $10 each.

my fiance finds a remarkable variety of GREAT stuff on Craigs List such as our living room furniture, an extension ladder, a Sun-Setter awning, a Ford 8N tractor, 3 goats (later sold 2 on Craig's), rain & compost barrels, a new bath vanity with double sink, firewood &c &c &c. she surfs the list on her lunch hour and sends me things to follow up on......

I have excellent luck on Craig's list selling a multitude of things that are either too heavy or too low-cost for eBay. just like anything else, use caution and don't let the morons wear you down :-)
