Looking for Rear Fender Welt Hints I am setting up the rear fender welting and do not have the luxury of original stuff for a pattern.
Keep in mind I have a 31 cabriolet which is the same as coupe roadster. I am using the lacquer cloth type as opposed to the vinyl. How is the sharp bend where the apron goes under the body handled? I know there needs to be a cut in the webbing to the bottom of the bead. What would be the correct cut shape? The rest appears to be straight forward. Do I need to make any other relief cuts? Are there relief cuts for the apron bolts or holes? Thanks! |
Re: Looking for Rear Fender Welt Hints Kevin, are you using Roy Nacewicz's welting or truly original? The main difference is one is sewn and the other is glued. If you cut darts in the "tail" of the welting, and in tight areas make it simulate fringe with 3 or 4 tabs, it will bend fairly satisfactory however after using some real recently, even Roy's product is difficult to bend by comparison.
