Re: 1930 roadster roof irons The "A" and "B" irons in your photo don't exist on '30 Roadster bows. They didn't have the scissor mechanism. If I recall correctly the #2 bow had a stud or dowel pin protruding and iron "C" had a corresponding hole to snap onto the dowel pin when the top was in the up position. Since the mechanism was a bit sloppy in the folded position, Ford included "stack fastener straps" to stabilize it when folded. These are shown in the Service Bulletins.

Re: 1930 roadster roof irons Yes, Marco is right. When it comes to Standard roadster top bows (i.e. not the flat bar and lacquered timber construction of Deluxe roadsters), the 30s did not have the extra 2 "scissor" action sections found in the 28-29 top bows and the middle bow was therefore not controlled by the opening/closing action of the bows. When open, the 1930 Standard middle bow had to be manually pinned to the "C" iron as Marco describes. Note also that the brackets which secured the front bow to the window staunchions were 1/2" longer on the 30 Standard bows than on the 28-29 bows, giving more overhang of the front bow past the top of the windscreen.
