?? 29 CC P/U with a Separate Huckster Style Top?

On ebay now there is a nice 29 CC P/U with a Separate Huckster Style Top. The guy selling the truck is unresponsive, so this brings me here! I want the same separate top for my 29, does anyone sell such a thing or can someone here make one for me or have plans? Thank you!

Looks very basic to me. 4 posts, 6 boards, top material and 24 bolts. What is under the top material unknown. Could be slats or a single sheet.

I agree with Dave, it looks quite easy to make. I'd start by placing 4 posts in the pockets, then fasten the two side boards to the top, then add two curved end boards to the top, then the two lower side boards. Then I'd C-clamp two lower end boards to add rigidity so you can safely lift it off and finish it on the floor. I'd then add a third curved top board in the center and maybe make it just a bit taller than the two end boards. Then add a bunch of Oak strips running front to rear. Having the center top curved board a bit higher than the ends will give the top a compound curve, which might add to the looks. I would also think about adding some kind of removable or fold out sides to close it in for bad weather or theft protection of contents.

Nice truck - and the price isn't bad.

There's one interior pic where you can see through the back window that the canopy does have front-to-back slats.

Ford offered a similar canopy as an accessory. IIRC, it had roll-up curtains - should be easy to make from top material or canvas. Just tack them behind the top boards and add some top fasteners to the outside of the posts and bottom boards to secure them. Also need a couple of straps with buckles on the top boards to hold the curtains when rolled up. If you put one on the rear, it would need a window of clear mylar or some such and you would have to figure some way to attach it to the tailgate. Also could permanently attach one to the front of the canopy since it wouldn't need to roll up - course it would need a window.

To bad he didn't put sharper corners on the top, instead of looking like a mattress.

The engine number looks strange. Am I seeing things or is that the way it should be.

Engine number is most certainly a grind and restamp....

Seems easy enough to build as described above. Top material easily available from Lebaron Bonney or and upholstery place.

An option instead of, or in addition to, curtains might be screen sides like this T - could add 1/2 height door(s) or a "hatch" to the back or use full door(s) and dispense with the tailgate.

That PU is a high rear window 28 which is kind of interesting, anyway look in A.G.McMillan's book "Ford Truck Owner" for other period ideas.

What is easy for some is not as easy for others! It is something I do not feel comfortable doing! I cut it three times and it is still to short!! My plan if someone puts me in the right direction here, is to put a metal securuty screens on the side.
Please keep your help and ideas coming, Thank You!

One of the photos has what looks like a builders plate. Its the one with the photo of the of the light in the bed mounted to a water pipe bracket. You could contact the seller for info on it.

Looks like it is close to the same construction of my Huckster body (now sold) that was made not too far from the seller. Could be a history between them.

As to building it I would make a template out of cardboard (I use boxes from Home Depot as they are cheap) that way you wouldn't have to guess at measurements.

Where was your huckster body from?
