Model A tire pump paint finish

Hi. Was the paint finish on the tire pump wet black or more of a semi gloss like the rest of the tools? Thanks

Also, how do you do the linseed oil handle that looks best? Brush it? Soak it? What? Thanks again.

on the paint it looks like they were dipped upside down in enamel I have had some real nice originals and on the bottom of the foot the paint is thick caked enamel. on the handle a rag work works the best, you do not want to see brush strokes.

Be sure to use Boiled Linseed Oil on the handle as jw hash said rub it in. There is a old saying " Once a day every day for a week, once a week every week for a month, once a month for a year, once a year forever ". I have used that on gun stocks forever maybe a little over kill on a pump handle it should be abbreviated. JMHO ?

I agree with Jim...I put my handle in the linseed oil and brought it up to a boil (out side my house) let it sit till it cooled off...Still looks nice after 30 years.
