Lucas' tires

Any comments, good or bad, about the inexpensive line of tires Lucas is selling?

I'm listening too.
I put Firestones on my coupe 23k ago and they still look like they have most of the tread. Maybe I should just stick with a good thing.

I've bought both 19s and 21s and they have been great. I like the profile of them as well, although they are not as authentic looking as the Firestones or Goodyears.

the firestones that are made today only last about 8-10k. The rubber is a lot less quality than it use to be.

I've had a couple of Lucas for several years not problems at all. The other two are Allstate (Sears) from the late 60's not problems there either not dry rotted at all

I agree with that!
Even the front tire on my bicycle is worn to the cords after only a few hundred miles. We really need to start manufacturing rubber products back in this country and with the quality they used to have.

I've been running Lucas 21's on my Model T since 2003. They have held up real well at 30psi. They still look great.

Re: Lucas' tires

I'm sure a lot of things affect tire life. Seems it would be most helpful to list mileage as well as how long you've had them.
For example, the tires I have on my recently acquired truck are at least 23 years old. They have some tread left on them but are very deeply cracked and pretty noisy on the road.
It had been kept outside in extreme weather. And they have not been driven more that 1200 miles the entire time. Doesn't seem like we can learn much about the quality of those tires because of the conditions

I too had the same results. Might be good for show but not for driving.

Re: Lucas' tires

When buying new tires for my RV, I came across the "Special RV Tires". When ask about them, Goodyear said they have "UV" protection to help them last on RV's that sit out in the weather. So you see, the tire companies are manufacturing tires to go bad in just a few years, unless you want to buy "Special Tires" at an extra cost like I did for the RV. Although, I don't think they make them for cars.

Denman went bankrupt a couple years ago. Titan bought their name, tire specs, patents, molds, customer lists, etc.
