'31 cowl light arm pad or gasket? The '31 roadster I just bought has old homemade pads between the arm & cowl. Apparently these were not originally used? Do you guys use anything there to keep water from seeping in? What about a small amount of sealer or a thin o ring?
Thanks, Mel :) |
Re: '31 cowl light arm pad or gasket? I would think some DUM-DUM or similar putty would be a good idea to keep the water out.

Re: '31 cowl light arm pad or gasket? I'd check to see if the wood blocks are in the inside that prevent dimpling the cowl when you tighten the bracket bolt.

Re: '31 cowl light arm pad or gasket? I used DUM DUM a lot in the 70's when I was installing aftermarket air conditioners in cars. I haven't looked for it for a long time, but it should still be around.
I wonder if plumber's putty would work. I was rewiring an old Coke machine for a friend a couple weeks ago and we went to the local hardware store to buy some plumber's putty to replace the dried up stuff covering where the wires exit the cooling box. |
