condensor

What holds the condensor into the distributor(besides the srew). Mine feels like something else is holding it in. The truck will run for a while then quit....sometimes I have spark and some times i dont. Does this sound like a bad condensor?

Two screws, one at each end.

Re: condensor

Does moving the spark lever make it want to cut out? If so,there could be a broken strand or bare spot on the wire under the breaker plate grounding on the dist hsg.

I was thinking the same as columbiA, plus, if you are using an original popout, it could be a bad wire inside the heavy cable. If you are using a repro ignition switch, it could be contacts that don't make too well.

With all due respect this is Marco's picture from a nearby thread entitled "distributor colour...well look".
The picture might answer your question.
I tried to link Marco's post, but just the picture shows up.
PS ... if you have a "wax like" plug in the hole, it should fetch about $325 on ebay :Dhttp://abarnyard.com/temp/distributo...ributor-02.jpg
