Rear roller brake tracks I thought I would try and save some money. I took the roller tracks off the rear backing plates to see if I could save by having a friend weld them. Question does anyone know what the spec. or what the dimension the tracks were weld and ground to? Are they the same as the front? Because I brought a set of them. Thank for any advice.

Re: Rear roller brake tracks The tracks where the wear is should have a flat area where the roller pins didn't cause any wear. You just need to leave a little of the original flat area when building up the worn part and file down the weld even with the non-worn part. That is what I did.

Re: Rear roller brake tracks The front and rear dimensions are different. The dimension is the distance between the rivet pin and the top surface of the track. Rear is 1" and front is 1 5/16".

Re: Rear roller brake tracks Make a rectangular gauge (of metal or very hard plastic, etc.) that is 1" wide for the fronts and 1 5/16" for the rear and long enough to cover both track sides; about 1/8" thick or so. Then have tracks welded in place, grind to fit with gauge. Flame harden if desired.

Rich in Tucson tracks you very much for your advice. I am kind of afraid to say that one of you has it back wards. It won't be hard to figure out with the measurement that you gave me anyway. So a big thanks to all of you. Richard/Ca |
