Oil, straight vs. multi ? Hi guy's What will carry the load better, a straight weight or a multi grade ???...I've alway used 30 or 40W ...in the "A" Just can't see using the real low numbered multi say 5-15 weight...Some of that stuff is like water to me... Some of you guy here local(L.A. area) may be familare with Leon the "Motorman" on KABC every Sunday...That guy has forgotten more car stuff that I'll ever know..I called one time and asked him about the oil for the A,,,,I know I"ll get some "Scream's" but he said use what Ford called for "40W"... He was a consultant for Quaker State oil year's ago...You can hear him on line at Kabc.com every Sunday 7am to 10 Pacific coast time He alway say's on his show, agree or disagree give me a call.. Talk about oil viscosity What is also important is properly protecting the engine from nasty chemicals that will form. This is done with additives to prevent nasty chemical build up. |

Re: Oil, straight vs. multi ? i use 20 50 because it starts circulating thru the engine quicker on cold mornings, and then becomes thicker as the oil warms up, lite and then heavier oil, the best of both worlds

Re: Oil, straight vs. multi ? Yes I use Castrol 20-40 synthetic and change it once a year in the fall so I have new oil for winter storage. Gord B by the Bay
