1931 Running Board picture(s) wanted

Does anyone have any pictures of an original 1931 running board that they would be willing to share with me. While I am interested in the top side too, I am most interested in the bottom side as I am comparing some details. Thanks!!

Do you need to see the rubber or trim, or just the underside sheet metal??

Doug

My main objective is the bottom side at this point however I would like to see some details like corners of rubber, etc.

Here are a few pictures of the right running board of my April 1931 40B. The car is low mileage and has never been restored or taken apart. Ask if you need more. Gar Williams

Unfortunately I never took any overall photos and currently have them packed away.

Marco, Are the 31 boards NOS and if so what is the original underside finish like. Do they appear dipped or spray painted after the rubber was installed?
Thanks, Jim Sinclair

See, that is what I am finding is some seem to have that reinforcing strip down between the two brace mounts, ...and some don't. I guess I need to look at the prints but until then, is there anything significant to that reinforcing strip??

Interesting: My '31 running boards have a reinforcing rib running along the bottom, but yours do not.

Also, I see that hex-head bolts, not carriage bolts, were used to connect the running board to the front fender. The Hardware Guide (and the vendors' bolt kits) say that carriage bolts were used, but my fenders and running boards had perfectly round holes, and there was no way carriage bolts could have been used there.
Are the bolts between the fender and splash shield hex or carriage? My car seemed to have all hex, but I could not be sure they were original.

Thanks,
Doug

Doug, The three bolts securing the running board to the front fender were hex heads, the two securing the rear fender to the running board were carriage bolts. The splash pan to fenders were hex bolts front and back.

Hi Jim,

Yes, they are NOS. I attempted to capture the appearance in this pic below. It looks like a VERY thin coat of rubber leaving a somewhat mottled appearance. It could possibly be paint but I haven't yet been inclined to test it with chemicals to determine for sure.

reinforcing strip

I have an early 30 coupe. The running boards have the reinforcing strip down between the two brace mounts. It looks like it was intended to reinforce that area of the running board.

Aren't your '30 running boards different that these?

I have noticed the late 31's are the ones that have the reinforced strip.

I sold a pair of NOS with the original Vicky sold to DAvid Moore. They had mould numbers, etc. I saw nothing on them like what Marco is showing for data. They were painted with a brush because you could see brush swirls. The medium looked as if it were a very light pitch or asphalt base material, dull. See if David can supply pics. I think he put them on the car.

Brent, Are we talking about the reinforcing brace between the two support brackets? Like in these pictures? Bill

Brent was only interested in the late '30 and '31 boards which are entirely different.

A little off topic but does the welt material go between the ends of the fenders where they attach to the fenders?
