sealing cowl welt

Do you guys use anykind of gasket sealer on the gas tank-cowl welt or does the welt do ok alone ? None of the repair books that i have refer to any sealer being used.

The welting does just fine by itself, nothing else is needed. I would then be painted after it is put in with the tank assembly.
