Fender, splash apron, hood shelf assembely

I finally got my chassis finished and want to start assembely on the body parts. I want to install the front fenders, splash aprons, hood shelfs, and running boards. I plan on laying some frame welting down on the frame first.

My question is, What should I bolt up first?
It might become obvious when I go out to the barn this weekend and start on it, but I thought I would ask you guys your expertise opinions.

I'm thinking the splash aprons go on first,
Then the fenders,
Then the running boards,
Then the hood shelfs.

Is this correct?

I also want to add that it is a 29 Sport Coupe and the body is not on the car yet. Also that I did not take this car apart so I have no way of knowing.

Thanks guys.:)

your order is correct essentially; don't forget the welting on the frame & the fender welt between the aprons & fenders. the splash aprons also have to be put on over the front splash panel below the radiator. put everything together loosley, and take your time. the splash aprons have to be one of the hardest assemblies I encountered with my '28 roadster

Have you pre-fit the parts?

Is the frame straight?

Are these all restored parts?

My advice would be different depending on what you are doing.

Just make sure you are happy with how the side splash shields bolt up to the front fenders before you put the body on top of them!

Also check that the running board brackets have not sagged (or are too high, if they are new).

The frame is straight and the parts are not finished yet. I wanted to bolt every thing up first to check the fit before I restore them.
Thanks.

Your plan to install everything for a test fit is a good one. However for final assembly I would suggest that you install the body before installing the front fenders. That makes it a little easier to get to the body without damage to the fenders.
